Smart Vineyard Innovation Project
Building the vineyard of the future
Located in the Thracian Valley, near Harmanli in southern Bulgaria, FILIPOPOL is preparing an innovation project aimed at transforming vineyard management through the integration of advanced digital and precision agriculture technologies. The region is one of Bulgaria’s most promising wine-growing areas thanks to its favourable climate and terroir.
The project will establish a 1-hectare pilot vineyard where different innovative solutions will be evaluated under real commercial conditions. Rather than focusing on a single technology, the initiative will serve as a demonstration site to identify the most effective tools for improving vineyard sustainability, grape quality and agronomic performance.
Foreseen execution: Spring 2027
A living innovation laboratory
The Harmanli pilot is conceived as an open innovation vineyard, bringing together technology providers, researchers and agricultural professionals to validate practical solutions under real farming conditions.
The objective is to generate reliable knowledge that can support the wider adoption of precision viticulture technologies across Bulgaria wine-growing regions.
Our objectives
- Improve grape quality and consistency.
- Increase vineyard productivity and resource efficiency.
- Optimise irrigation and water management.
- Enhance climate resilience.
- Reduce environmental impact.
- Support data-driven vineyard management.
